Josh & Tanya | A Rainy, Romantic Celebration at Old Carter Barn
Every wedding I photograph holds a special place in my heart, but this one was different in the best way. Not only was I honored to be the photographer for Josh and Tanya’s wedding—I am also incredibly proud to call Josh both a coworker and a friend.
Josh and I met through my new position at a behavioral health school, where he plays an integral role in the crisis response team. To say he’s come to my rescue a time or two this year would be an understatement! His calm demeanor, kindness, and compassion make him such a joy to work with, so when he and Tanya asked me to photograph their wedding, it meant the world to me.
Even more special? The story that brought Josh and Tanya to this day.
Back in 2004, these two were best friends in middle school. Josh, sweet but a little shy, never quite worked up the courage to ask Tanya on a date. Fast forward 20 years, and while the shyness faded, the feelings had stayed. One date later... and the rest, as they say, is history.
Josh and Tanya planned their wedding in just ten months, and it was nothing short of magical. Held at the Old Carter Barn in Tunkhannock, PA, their big day was filled with laughter, love, and a lot of personal touches that made it uniquely them. From the Cheez-It bar (a nod to a quirky and adorable piece of their story), to a mechanical bull that had everyone in stitches, to one of their favorite bands playing live at the reception—this celebration had everything.
Despite a little rain in the forecast, the couple didn’t let it dampen their spirits. Guests still gathered around a bonfire, and we all enjoyed a fireworks display that lit up the moody evening sky. It was joyful, heartfelt, and so perfectly Josh and Tanya.
And we can’t forget two of the day’s biggest stars—Jingles, their beloved pup, and Skylar, Tanya’s sweet daughter, who completely stole the show with their presence, energy, and undeniable charm.
One of my favorite parts of the day? Being invited not only to document this beautiful wedding, but also to celebrate alongside them as a guest. Spending time with so many of my closest friends and coworkers in such a special setting made the day even more meaningful. I laughed, cried, danced (yes, even while holding a camera), and had the absolute best time.
Congratulations, Josh and Tanya! Thank you for trusting me with your memories, and for including me in such a joyful celebration of your love.
